Introduction to the Montessori Pedagogy
The Montessori method of education has been around since the early 1900s. Developed and refined by Dr. Maria Montessori, this approach is different from traditional preschool and education as it focuses on the development of the whole child as a unique individual, preparing them to be happy, peaceful, and productive members of society. This rich philosophy is backed by science and observation, and deeply rooted in respect for self, others, and the environment. Children inherently love to learn and work, and this environment encourages joyful learning and work in an environment where everything is real and purposeful.
Claire Mayes, the Director at LLH is an AMS trained guide, and has years of experience teaching in the Montessori classroom.
This class is here to inform you on how this method works, how it came to be, and what the materials we use look like/how they work. You will gain a better understanding of this philosophy.
This course is for anyone interested in enrolling their child between 18 months and five years old in our program. RSVP is required. This is a private event.
